What Makes Us Different

Giving Tuesday is December 2—but to us, it’s really THANK YOU Tuesday.

Thanks to our generous donors and supporters, we can improve hearing and overall health through life-changing scientific discoveries. We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to you and all our supporters who inspire us to push for scientific advancements. For Giving Tuesday, we are thrilled to announce a dollar for dollar match right now through midnight ET December 2!

In the run-up to this biggest day for charitable giving, you’ve more than likely already heard from many nonprofit organizations. Here’s what makes Hearing Health Foundation (HHF) stand out.

As the largest nonprofit funder of hearing and balance research in the U.S., HHF is dedicated to improving the lives of millions living with hearing loss, tinnitus, and related hearing and balance conditions. Our focus on cutting-edge research drives innovations that lead to better treatments and cures. We are proud to earn top ratings from all the major charity watchdogs, underscoring our fiscal efficiency.

Our Emerging Research Grants program funds basic hearing and balance science that lays the groundwork for novel diagnostics, therapies, and preventive strategies. In addition to general hearing and balance research, we also fund in the areas of age-related hearing loss, auditory processing disorders, hyperacusis, Ménière’s disease, and tinnitus. See our crop of latest grantees here.

Our Hearing Restoration Project is an international consortium of top scientists unraveling how to regrow sensory hair cells in the inner ear. They are figuring out how this complex regeneration process works in chicks and fish in order to translate this to humans. See their long list of their publications here, most with lay summaries.

Our Keep Listening prevention campaign is creating a culture shift around how we think about our hearing health so that turning the volume down, wearing earplugs when needed, and taking breaks in quiet are all common-sense steps to take for ears and overall health. Hearing loss affects more people than cancer and diabetes combined, yet it receives far less funding and attention. Your support is vital to help us bridge this gap, especially as federal funding priorities continue to shift. And right now, every dollar raised by midnight ET December 2 will be MATCHED dollar for dollar, thanks to generous, anonymous donors.

Your support matters. Thank you, truly, for being a part of our community!
