HHF Achieves Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance Accreditation

By Timothy Higdon

Hearing Health Foundation (HHF), the largest nonprofit funder of hearing and balance research in the U.S., recently underwent its biennial evaluation by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance (BBB WGA) and was again named an Accredited Charity.

What is the BBB WGA?

BBB WGA is a national charity monitoring organization affiliated with the Better Business Bureau system that helps donors make informed giving decisions.

How does the BBB WGA determine accreditation?

Charities are evaluated according to 20 standards, including financial transparency and planning, internal governance, effectiveness measurements, and fundraising disclosure practices and accuracy. A charity must meet all 20 standards to be accredited.

According to BBB WGA, these standards were developed "to assist donors in making sound giving decisions and to foster public confidence in charitable organizations. The standards seek to encourage fair and honest solicitation practices, to promote ethical conduct by charitable organizations and to advance support of philanthropy."

Is HHF recognized by other charity watchdogs?

HHF is rated 4 out of 4 stars by Charity Navigator, received an A+ rating from CharityWatch, and holds the highest Platinum Level status from GuideStar. Since 2016 HHF has been recognized as one of the “Best Charities for Your Donations” by Consumer Reports.

HHF funds the most promising hearing loss and tinnitus research because your dollars are put to the best possible use. Thank you for trusting in our mission.
