I was born deaf and my mom got me hearing aids at the age of 6 months. At 26 years of age I got my first cochlear implants. I had to learn sounds, speech, language all over again. It's like being rebuilt! I now have 2 cochlear implants and appreciate how much they help me hear words, phrases, and music that I couldn't hear before. I can even recognize announcements on speakers on the metro and radio. I never thought I'd do this well, praise God.
