Fundraising Events & Ideas
The stories below highlight just a few of the ways that others have supported a cure for hearing loss and tinnitus with innovative events and initiatives.  See more ideas at the bottom for additional ways you can help us fundraise for a cure.

Pledge Music to Cure Hearing Loss and Tinnitus

Kori Linae Carothers, an adult contemporary instrumental musician who also has 100% hearing loss in one ear, has launched her fourth album "Fire in the Rainstorm" on Pledge Music. Pledge Music works where artists create new music projects, and when you Pledge on a campaign, you gain access to new music as well as exclusive content, all before the album officially hits the masses. Kori chose Pledge Music as they partner with charities and she wanted to have HHF as part of her campaign. Kori has reached her goal which means a portion of any further pledges are donated to HHF! Help Kori double her goal and support HHF too!

Running the NYC Marathon to Cure Hearing Loss and Tinnitus

On November 3, 2013, Tom Abbey,  Veronica Calhoun, Tara Guastella, Kim Montini, and Andy Shepard tackled the 26.2 miles of the NYC Marathon in support of a cure for hearing loss and tinnitus.  Each team member spents months training for the run with team member and trainer, Tom Abbey, of Functional Fitness VA.  Whether being impacted by hearing loss personally or through a family member, each team member was excited to raise funds for HHF in order to expedite the timeline to a cure.

Thank you so much to Team Hearing Health which raised nearly $20,000 for HHF and a cure! Read more about their run in the NYC Marathon.

Run for the BUZZ! Running to Cure Hearing Loss and Tinnitus

Sixteen years ago, Julie Davis joined a group of 50 million people in this country, and it wasn't by choice. In June of 1997, her left ear stopped working and the buzzing and ringing started. Not only had she gone 50% deaf, but she also acquired vertigo, balance issues and other negative consequences associated with hearing loss that many people rarely discuss.

On October 27, 2013, Julie “RAN for the BUZZ,” in the Marine Corp Marathon and this time, Hearing Health Foundation is supporting her in this effort. The Hearing Restoration Project (HRP) is close to finding a biological cure for hearing loss but funding for research is needed.

Julie raised $2,000 for a cure!

Publishing for Vision & Hearing

The private foundation, Publishing for Vision and Hearing, recently contributed $17,500 to HHF. Every month, Publishing for Vision and Hearing auctions off editorial services of editors and agents to give personal critiques to aspiring writers. All net proceeds go directly to HHF, the Foundation Fighting Blindness, and other research organizations or clinics that further our cause.

Through these auctions, the united talent and expertise of the publishing community will dramatically transform lives. The foundation's goal is to put themselves out of business by making the twin scourges of blindness and deafness a thing of the past.

Racing to Cure Hearing Loss

On July 14, Ben, Chris, and Kristie teamed up for the Aquaphor New York City Triathlon and raised over $4,000 for Hearing Health Foundation! Each team member tackled a different part of the race; swimming, biking, and running. The team decided to bring attention to the 1 in 5 Americans affected with hearing loss.  Kristie is one of them as she was diagnosed with a rare degenerative hearing loss six years ago. She is now an activist and member of HHF's National Junior Board.

Cycling to Cure Hearing Loss

Last September, Michael Nolan, a long-time Hearing Health Foundation national board member and supporter, participated in the Gran Fondo NJ cycling race to raise funds for Hearing Health Foundation. Mike, and several of his family and friends, completed a ride of 107 miles through the parks and countryside of Morris County and Western NJ.

Mike raised over $7,000 to support a cure for hearing loss and HHF's programs like the Hearing Restoration Project.  The goal of the Hearing Restoration Project is to cure hearing loss within 10 years through inner ear hair cell regeneration.
