Management of the Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Patient: 30th Annual Conference
RIchard Tyler, Ph.D., is a 2012 Emerging Research Grants (ERG) scientist who has been organizing an annual tinnitus conference at the University of Iowa intended for professionals as well as patients. This year’s dates are August 10 and 11, in person and remotely, with a welcome reception on August 9 in person.
We are thrilled that 2022–2023 ERG scientist Megan Beers Wood, Ph.D., will be the guest of honor speaking on pain hyperacusis. A postdoctoral research fellow at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Wood is generously funded by Hyperacusis Research.

From the conference website: “This conference is intended for otologists, audiologists, psychologists, hearing aid specialists, and nurses who provide clinical management services for patients with tinnitus. The conference will also provide information to patients who have tinnitus, their family, and friends, but it will NOT include individual diagnosis and treatment. The purpose of this conference is to provide a review of current evaluation and management strategies for the treatment of tinnitus. Upon completion of the program, the participant will be able to discuss the management of tinnitus and the tinnitus patient.” CEUs (continuing education credits) will be available.
Plus, congrats to Dr. Tyler for earning the Jerger Career Award for Research in Audiology from the American Academy of Audiology!
