My first experiences with hearing loss occurred in college. I observed fellow classmates (and others) struggle with their ability to communicate with those around them. I was awestruck and touched. This prompted my choice to enter the field of Deaf Education, and subsequently, Speech Language Pathology. I have spent the duration of my career standing in awe at the commitment and courage of families as they encounter the impact of hearing loss. It is a challenge I know I will never overcome, to continue to pursue the very best in knowledge, information, and practice, in order to assist and support the families I daily have the privilege to partner with.
